This year I have seen at least 5 small businesses close their doors. We were referred to each of those owners when the company was already sinking. It was like they were in a boat and water was gushing quickly into the boat while they were using a bucket to empty it out. Putting more money into the business would not help them. I felt awful. Marketing should be the first step to building your business not the last stop when it’s falling.
Honestly, I informed them that we could not do any marketing that would assist them. It hurts personally because we really do care about small businesses. When I was 14 years old I was mentored by a small business owner. It means a lot to me.
Small businesses make up 99.7 percent of the U.S. employer firms and 64 percent of net new private-sector jobs. Small business owners invest most of their life savings into their companies. It’s tragic when they have to close their doors. It’s disheartening to me!
